Research Intersts: Cardiovascular diseases are one of the major causes of human mortalities. Among the various cardiovascular diseases, coronary artery disease is mainly responsible for atherosclerosis and is major cause of human death toll. Maternal nutritional status during pregnancy influences health status of each and every organ of a new born, including cardiovascular system. These influences have been linked with incidence of cardiovascular diseases during later stages of life. Studies have shown that thicknesses of carotid and aortic intima and media can help predicting the risk of cardiovascular diseases. However, there is scarcity of literature about if maternal nutrition effects the thickness of tunica intima and media of coronary vessels or not. My area of interest encompasses influence of maternal under-nutrition upon coronary vasculature during different stages of pregnancy.
