RESEARCH

 

RESEARCH GROUPS of the Department

The department has established four research groups in order to conduct research on important topics. The research groups along with their objectives are as under;

 

a)        Commodity Marketing (Foodgrains, Cotton, Vegetables & Fruits)

Objectives:

1)     To study existing marketing channels.

2)     To estimate marketing margins of market intermediaries.

3)     To identify problems and suggest measures for solutions.

 

b)      World Trade Organization

 
 

Objectives:

     

1)   To delineate the Impact of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement of WTO on Agricultural Exports from Pakistan.

2)   To study implications of withdrawal of subsidy to agriculture under WTO regime.

c)         Market Operations, Control and Management

Objectives:

1)  To study Wholesale market operations and management.

2)  To Identify and plan new wholesale markets.

The department has completed twenty two research projects. Some of the major projects completed are listed below

  1. Post Harvest Losses of Food grains in Pakistan.

  2. Marketing of Milk in Punjab.

  3. Marketing of Major Fruits and Vegetables in Punjab

  4. Wholesale Marketing Management, Control and operations in Punjab.

  5. Working Capital and Finance in Subsistence Agriculture: Some Conceptual and Analytical Issues.

  6. The wheat marketing activity in the Punjab province.
