1st Program:         Ph.D. in Rural Sociology

Description

Without research the development is not possible. The social discipline is vitally important. The country is facing many social problems. Keeping in view the importance of the discipline the Dept. has started Ph.D. program. Now the Dept. has more than 60 research scholars and they working on issues of national and international significance in

 
  areas of sociology, like women health and development, reproductive
     

 health, social change and development, drug addiction and crimes, sexual transmitted diseases, violence and human health, poverty alleviation and programme impact assessment. The program addresses the national agenda for higher education and research

     

2nd Programme:                      M.Sc. Rural Sociology

B.Sc.(Hons)Agri., B.Sc. Agri.Engg./B.Sc.(Hons)A.H./DVM(with deficiencies where necessary), M.A. with Sociology/Social Work/Economic/Home Economics as one of the subjects.

Description    

The M.Sc. Rural Sociology Program has been initiated in the University in 1962 and had produced more than 1500 graduates and they are working in different national and international institutions in areas of education, health, population, social welfare and a substantial number of students are working in NGO’s.

Description

 

The programme started in 1998 as there was a great demand for this program. The university authority has thoroughly analyzed the views and demands of public and started this program.  Description

The issue of population has vital significance in the national and international scenario. The unchecked population growth has damaging effects on all the aspects of national development. The ministry of population has the great desire to start M.Sc. level program to have population experts for the country. The department with collaboration of international NGO, Population Council, has instituted this program. The students are conducting research in the areas of population and reproductive health.
