A. Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition:

 

ü         Fine tune fertilizer recommendations based on soil tests and nutrient

dynamics in different cropping systems.

ü         Devise strategies for efficient nutrient management under stress land

conditions.

ü                   Development of multinutrient foliar fertilizers and devise strategies for their

efficient use by farmers.

ü                   Advisory service to farmers pertaining to nutrient status of soil and

plants. 

    

B. Soil and Water Chemistry and Environment

 

ü                   Cost-effective technology development for reclaiming salt-affected soils.

ü        Treatment and management strategies for the use of brackish waters use.

ü                   Development of water quality standards for irrigation under different

agroecological conditions of Pakistan

ü                   Salinity/sodicity analysis, advisory services to farmers and others.

C. Saline Agriculture

 

ü                   Improving the productivity of salt-affected lands through the use of salt

tolerant varieties of crops and other plant species.

ü         Amelioration of salt-affected soils through improved biological activity in soils.

ü                   Improvement of existing saline agriculture technology.

ü                   Render Advisory Services to farmers pertaining to transplantation on stress

lands

 

D. Soil Physics, Survey, Genesis and Classification

 

ü         Development of technologies for improvement of crop yields on compacted

soils.

ü         Studies on effect of brackish water on soil physical properties and crop

yields.

ü         Development of technology for the improvement of physical conditions of soils

under rice-wheat cropping system.

ü                   Development and use of GIS and remote sensing system for classification of

natural resources for their production potential and mapping of land degradation.
