Admission
to the Course
1. A candidate
seeking admission to the course for the degree of Master must:
(i)
have passed the Bachelor's Degree Examination or an equivalent examination
in 2nd Division (under annual system) or with CGPA of 2.50/4.00 (under
semester system) from a recognized institution, in a field of study relating
to the subject he/she desires to take up,
(ii) produce at the time of the first enrolment, a certificate from
the University Resident Medical Officer to the effect that he/she is free
from any communicable disease or mental or physical disability which is
likely to stand in the way of his/her pursuing the chosen field of study.
2. If the
schedule of courses pursued by a candidate for his/her Bachelor's degree
does not provide adequate background for the M.A./M.Sc. course which he/she
intends to take up, he/she may be required to rectify the deficiency by
taking one or more additional courses.
3. Candidates
may be admitted at the beginning of the winter semester. If a candidate
fails to enroll, his/her admission shall stand cancelled.
3(i) Academic Staff: A teacher of the University of Agriculture,
Faisalabad may be allowed to enroll himself / herself for postgraduate
courses after getting admission under University rules. He./She , under this
arrangement, will be a part time student and a whole time employee:
Administrative staff: The
administrative staff would be treated at par for admission to various
postgraduate degree courses under Evening programme. He/she will take two
courses in Evening Programme and will be exempted from the fee etc. as in
the case of Faculty member. He /she, under this arrangement, will be a part
time student and a whole time employee. However, the number of seats for
admission to various degree courses for the administrative staff might be
fixed by the Vice Chancellor.(Syndicated 4.11.04).
4. (i)
The admission to the course may be made by the Advanced Studies and Research
Board on the recommendations of the selection committees to be constituted
by the Vice Chancellor.
(ii) Lists of
selected candidates would be displayed by the Director Advanced Studies and
if needed subsequent lists would be displayed till the last seat is filled

(Explanation: The last
list would be displayed keeping in view that 75% attendance in lectures
would not suffer).
(iii) The
Advanced Studies and Research Board may refuse admission of a student to the
course without assigning any reason.
Explanation: All those students who are awarded
minor penalty of fine of Rs.1000/- and above twice on account of their
misconduct during the course of their undergraduate studies will be debarred
for postgraduate admission for a period of two years. After the lapse of two
years after completion of their undergraduate courses, their cases will be
considered for admission to M.Sc. course on the recommendations of the
Students Affairs Committee. This condition will also be applicable for M.Sc.
students for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses.
The students who receive major penalties during
their B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses will not be granted admission to M.Sc. and
Ph.D., courses respectively. However, they will be eligible for admission to
M.Sc. and Ph.D. courses after a lapse of three years, on the recommendations
of the Students Affairs Committee.
5. A candidate
admitted to the course shall, for so long as he/she has not submitted
his/her research report, enroll himself/herself for each semester provided
that he/she may discontinue his/her studies on account of sickness duly
certified by the University Medical Officer, or due to circumstances beyond
his/her control, before appearing in the final examination, with the
permission of the Vice Chancellor obtained through the Director, Advanced
Studies on the recommendation of the Dean. Provided further that a candidate
shall not ordinarily be allowed to discontinue studies during first
semester.
Explanation: Candidates so permitted to discontinue will be allowed to
resume their studies by the Dean and will be notified by the Director
Advanced Studies.
*6. An
application for enrolment on the prescribed form (GS/10), accompanied by the
prescribed fees, shall be presented on the day(s) notified for enrolment
provided that the Director, Advanced Studies may, in special circumstances
and on payment of late fee of Rs.400/- permit a student to enroll within ten
days after the commencement of the classes.(Syndicate 4.11.04)
Provided
further that the Vice Chancellor may allow enrolment of a student after the
expiry of 10 days of the commencement of the classes under special
circumstances in individual cases to be recorded in writing with double late
fee of Rs.800/- till the last day of the 4th week w.e.f. commencement of
classes.
(Explanation: Enrolment will only be considered completed when GS/10 form is
deposited with the Director, Advanced Studies. Merely depositing of fee will
not serve the purpose).
7. If a student
fails to enroll in any semester without permission of the
competent
authority, he/she shall cease to be on the rolls of the University
and in case
he/she desires readmission, he/she shall have to apply for the

Explanation: The
Advanced Studies and Research Board may readmit such a candidate subject to
payment of Rs.2000/- as readmission fee and Rs.2000/- as per semester gap
fee/ or refuse admission if the reasons advanced are not convincing.
8. When a
candidate has been enrolled for his/her first semester, the Advanced
Studies and Research Board shall, on the recommendation of the Dean, made in
consultation with the Chairman of the Department concerned, will appoint a
student advisor for each student. An advisor may have more than one student
for the purpose of supervision.
9. (a) A
student who is enrolled for a course shall not be allowed, to add a new
course or substitute a course for another after the expiry of twenty days
from the commencement of the classes, but he/she may be permitted, on the
recommendation of his/ her Major Supervisor/ Chairman of the Department and
the teacher concerned, to drop a course within four weeks w.e.f.
commencement of classes. In case a student gives up a course without such
permission or intimation, he/she shall be deemed to have failed in that
course. He/She may be permitted, on the recommendation of his/her major
Supervisor/Chairman of the Department and Dean/Director concerned to revise
his/her GS/10 form within four weeks (21st day to 28th day) from the
commencement of classes subject to payment of Rs.1000/- as GS/10 revision
fee. (Syndicate 4.11.04)
(b) The
students may be allowed to drop such courses within 30 days of the
last date of enrolment, for which they enrolled in the first semester after
taking admission, before the appointment of their Supervisor, which are not
included in their approved course work programme. This concession will be
valid for courses enrolled in the first semester and for those students, who
submit their course work programmes during first semester.
10. When a
course for which a student is enrolled, cannot be held according to the
programme announced, he/she may take up an alternate course, but this must
be done not later than fifteen days after the date of enrolment.
11. The
admission of a candidate to the course shall be provisional in the first
instance and shall be confirmed only when he/she has:
(i) shown
satisfactory progress in his/her course work
(ii) rectified the course deficiencies, if any.
