(A)  THE STATUTES AND REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE FIRST DEGREE AWARDED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE, FAISALABAD.

I.    STATUTES

1.       In these Statutes unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context;

(i)   "Audit Course” means a course attended without any liability of taking its examination.

(ii)   "Credit Course" means a course of study to be completed as a requirement for a degree.

(iii)  "Credit Hour" means the successful completion of a course of one semester hour in theory or two semesters hours in practicals per week.

(iv)  "Deficiency Course" means a course in which a student has been adjudged deficient by a competent body of the University.

(v)   "Non Credit Course" means a course of study, successful completion of which would not be a requirement for the degree.

(vi)  "Semester" means teaching time of 19 weeks inclusive of admission, conduct of examination, preparation and declaration of results etc. and gazetted holidays.

2.   Duration of the Course

(i)      §The minimum number of semesters for completing the course for the degree of Bachelor of Science(Hons.) Agriculture, Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Agricultural and Resource Economics and Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Home Economics shall be eight. Provided that in case a student does not qualify for the award of degree within the minimum period of eight semesters, he may continue his studies for a maximum of four consecutive semesters beyond which he shall not be eligible for enrolment. In case of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, the minimum duration for completing degree programme shall be ten semesters. However, a student who fails to complete degree within the minimum duration, may further continue his studies upto four consecutive semesters beyond which he shall not be eligible for any enrolment.

 (ii)  The medium of instructions and examinations shall be English except in the case of Islamic Studies, which shall be Urdu.

3.   Duration of Semester

(i)   There will be two semesters in each academic year, winter and spring of 19 weeks each. The commencement of the semesters is regulated by the Academic Council.

      (Explanation: Out of 19 weeks, 16 weeks shall be the actual teaching time, the rest may be utilized for admission, conduct of examinations, preparation and declaration of results etc.).

(ii)     There will also be a summer session of 8 to 10 weeks duration as part of an academic year, and shall be optional. Students who wish to pass "F" grade(s) and to improve "D" grade(s) may enrol in this session in the courses offered. It shall not count towards residential requirements.

4.   Scheme of Study

The schemes of study for various degree examinations shall be as given in the Schedule–I appended to the Statutes. This schedule may be amended from time to time.

5.   Minimum Requirements for various Degrees

The minimum credit requirement for instituting the various degrees shall be as follows:

 

B.Sc.(Hons.) Agriculture

216 credit hours for a duration of 8 semesters.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

207 credit hours for a duration of 10 semesters.

B.Sc.(Hons.) Agricultural & Resource Economics

202 credit hours for a duration of 8 semesters.

B.Sc. Agricultural Engineering

193 credit hours for a duration of 8 semesters.

B.Sc.(Hons.) Home Economics

160 credit hours for a duration of 8 semesters.
