Department of Public Relations and Publications - UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan addresses the gathering of a workshop on developing modules for trainers and trainees of DVM internship program as chief guest - February 02, 2010

On-farm trainings provide a diversified experiences to the internees to enrich their professional capabilities as it was meant for their rigorous exposure. This was stated by Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan Vice Chancellor while addressing the participants of a workshop on developing modules for trainers and trainees of DVM internship program as chief guest here at New Senate Hall on Tuesday morning.

Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan emphasized that the students need to equip themselves with effective communication skills to how they express their experiences and knowledge before the interviewing panel. Dr. Khan told the gathering that UAF is going to set up a career counseling centre with 10 million rupees by upgrading the existing entity of CDC “we have a range of training courses which will enable the students to how they can excel and foster in their respective domain” he added. Dr. Khan told that Punjab Government was funding internship programs for the last some years but the task has become complicated due to withdrawal of funding agency. He asked the host organizations to extend their fullest support to the internees so as to make them aware regarding all confronting issues and teach them according to the mutually prepared training modules. “We need to meet the international standards of quality assurance and to remain in line with the international norms” he emphasized.



He informed the internees the government spends about 0.5 million of public money in producing a university graduate and bears more than 90% of his expenses so the graduates need to return it back by fully utilizing the available opportunity.

Prof. Dr. Laeeq Akbar Lodhi revealed that the internship program was evolved four years back and the internees were given Rs. 1000 weekly stipend but later the program was stopped due to financial constraints. Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain Chairman Dept. of Microbiology conducted the program. Director Veterinary Research Institute Dr. Rahid Ahmad, Executive Director Endowment Fund Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Randhawa, and representative of Choolistan Development Authority Dr. Arshad Hussain Arshi also spoke on the occasion.
