The Higher Education Commission has conferred upon the title of Distinguished National Professor to Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Faisalabad for two years in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of education and research.

The award is meant to acknowledge the services rendered by outstanding senior Professors and Scientists in Universities and R&D Organizations and to utilize their services in national organizations.
In 2015, the French Government has also decorated Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan (S.I), Vice Chancellor, with highest French Civil Award Ordre des Palmes Académiques to recognise his service.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, the University has emerged ever-first Pakistani institution ranked among world top 100 universities in any subject category.
UAF has become 72th best varsity at global level in the agricultural sciences, according to the National Taiwan University Global Ranking.
The University has secured 86th position worldwide in the subject of Agriculture and Forestry as per QS ranking.
UAF has become 9th best green university as per UI GreenMetric World University Ranking in the category of specialized higher education institutions.
Dr. Iqrar is also striving hard to revamp the Punjab Agriculture Policy on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in order to address the different challenges facing the sector .
Dr. Iqrar Ahmad has played a pivotal role to set up USAID Funded US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security at UAF that will help increase the agri. productivity. The Planning Commission of Pakistan a few months ago also approved establishment of Pak-Korea Hi-Tech Agricultural Innovation Park worth Rs 30, thanks to his dynamic leadership and initiates to promote academia and research.
