Nagri Beetal goat of Shoukat Ali from Jaranwala bagged the first position in goat milking contest held at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad with 7.99 liters of milk.
The milking contest was the part of UAF Rabi Festival. The prize distribution ceremony was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. The Faisalabad Beetal goat of Ch Anwar-ul-Haq got the second position with 7.91 liter of milk while Nagri Beetle goat of Ch Anwar-ul-Haq stood third with the 6.67 liter of milk. Addressing on the occasion, the contest was meant for encouraging the farming community to increase the productivity. He said that the government was bringing the reforms in the agriculture policy to address the problems of the farming community. He added that the farming community was being exploited on the hands of middle men etc. He said that the farming community must be paid well for the hard work, ensuring the food security in the country. He said that if we fail to provide the facilities to the farming community, we will not be able to ensure the food security. He said that it is the matter of concern that the farmers don’t want their sons to become farmers. He said that markets for small animals including goats etc needed to be set up. In the beauty goat contest, nagri beetal of Muhammad Ali from Bahawalnagar got the first prize
