The University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Dalhousie University Canada have launched a joint degree program BS (Plant Sciences).
The launching ceremony was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while Dr Qamar Zaman and Dr G Christopher Cutler from the Dalhousie University Canada also spoke on the occasion. The Vice Chancellor said that the university was networking with the foreign universities for the research and education in credit transfer program. He said that students of the BSs (Hons) Agriculture Sciences with the foundation of two-year FSc Pre Agriculture can grab the opportunity to study in the Dalhousie University for the final two years after meeting the criteria of 3 CGPA and other requirements. He said the students of the said degree will pay foreign university expense of two years. He said that the student exchange programmes were also being strengthened to get the benefit from each other experiences. He said that trained and educated nation is the guarantee of a bright future that will help uplift the economy and alleviate poverty. He said that the University was also running joint degree 2+2 BBA Agri Business Program with IBA Sukker. Dr Qamar Zaman from Dalhousie University Canada said that Canada was having 90 public universities where students from 110 universities were studying. He said that the collaboration would be strengthened in other disciplines also. He said that students would also be able to work for the prescribed hours during a week. He said that the students can complete last two years in Plant Sciences program at the Dalhousie University. Dr G Christopher Cutler said that the Canada was housing world ranked universities providing the quality education and producing the trained manpower. He said that Dalhousie University was standing among the top 300 universities of the globe in different rankings. He added that Dalhousie University was established in 1818. As many as 18200 students were studying in the said varsity. He said that Canada was second largest country in term of area of 10 million square kilometer. Whereas the population of the country is 36 million square kilometer. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof Dr Muhammad Amjad said that UAF was the only institution in the world ranked among top 100 universities of the globe in any category. He said that the collaboration will help the students interested in studying abroad in Canada.
