Like other parts of the world, Christmas was celebrated at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad with prayers for the safety and development of the country.
The ceremony organized by Public Relations and Publication (PRP) Department was held at the Christian residential colony Shahbaz Town of the varsity with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan in the Chair. Christian religious scholars (Father) Kamran Taj and Khalid Mukhtar along with UAF Treasurer Umer Saeed, PRP Principal Officer Dr Jalal Arif and Director Procurement Shahid Afzal Gill also attended. The colony was decorated with the twinkling lights, stars and traditional Christmas trees. The gathering alos cut the cake of 60 pounds. UAF Vice Chancellor wished the Christian Community on the occasion. He said that University was making all-out efforts to facilitate the campus community in respective of their colors, creeds, and religion. He stressed the need to create inter-religion harmony. Islam respects the minority and gives them their rights. He said in Islam, we believe in Hazarat Esa (A.S) as the prophet of Allah Subhanhotallah. He appreciated the efforts being made on the part of the government for the inter-religions harmony. Christian religious scholar (Father) Kamran Taj said that Bible gives us a message of love and to end hatred and iron out scuffle. He stressed upon the need to make the joint efforts to address the problems of mankind and for the uplift of the country. Christian religious scholar (Father) Khalid Mukhtar thanked the university for holding the ceremony. Dr Jalal Arif said that that the University was making all possible measures for providing state-of-the-art facilities to campus community including students and employees. He said the University had emerged first-ever country institution ranked among the top 100 institutions of the globe in any category. He called for inter religion harmony for the development and prosperity of the county.
